Hibiscus Tea Recipe & Instructions

What You’ll Need:

  • 2 cups fresh hibiscus flowers or ½ cup dried hibiscus flowers
  • 8 cups water
  • ¼ cup honey, stevia, or any sweetener you prefer, optional
  • Three tablespoons of fresh lime juice, optional

Procedure:

  1. Remove the calyx, or the green part at the base of the flower where the stem is connected, if you’re using fresh hibiscus flowers. You can keep or remove the pistil, which is the tiny tube-shaped structure in the center of the flower that is attached to pollen. If you’re using dried flowers, you may skip this step.
  2. In a big pot, heat the hibiscus flowers and water until they begin to boil. Turn off the burner and cover the pot as the water begins to boil. You can now include other herbs, basil, lemongrass, lemon zest, or other ingredients. Steep the tea for 15 to 20 minutes. Honey and lime juice should be thoroughly mixed. Filter the tea.
  3. Hibiscus tea can be enjoyed either warm or after chilling in the fridge for a few hours.

How To Make Hibiscus Tea From Flowers

What You’ll Need:

  • 3 cups Water
  • 6 Fresh Hibiscus Flowers
  • 2 tbsp Fresh lemon juice, optional

Procedure:

  1. Choose some new hibiscus flowers.
  2. Remove every petal off of the flowers.
  3. Rinse well in water to get rid of any dirt, pests, or pollutants.
  4. Bring the kettle to a boil, then pour boiling water over the new petals.Give it a 10-minute steeping period. Red petals will become yellow as time passes.
  5. Take away all of the yellow petals. The tea will turn bitter if the flowers are steeped for more than 10 minutes.
  6. You can drink the tea hot or cold.
